Ecoscape- An Eco-friendly Farmhouse
Location: Kadoli Village, Nagpur
Site Area: 6 Acre
Built Up Area: 1000sqft
Year of completion: 2016
Located amidst various farmlands on the outskirts of Nagpur city, facing extremely hot summers and mild winters and good rainfall, the farmhouse is designed keeping in mind these aspects. The location of the farmhouse was decided to be further away from the national highway to get a good buffer from the chaos of the national highway.
The farmhouse has equal proportions of private indoor spaces and semi-open verandah spaces. An L-shaped verandah is placed around the indoor areas to offer maximum semi-open spaces with beautiful farm views on all sides thus fostering connection with nature.
The farmhouse’s walls used locally sourced hollow bricks with air gaps to insulate the inside from the hot outsides. The private inside areas of the farmhouse had a RCC roof with earthen pots as fillers and the rest of the verandah spaces have MS corrugated sheets with bamboo false ceiling.
